Piers Morgan has issued a scathing verdict on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's upcoming visit to the UK, branding them 'untrustworthy' and accusing Harry of 'spoilt brat entitled behaviour'. The broadcaster made the comments on The Royals Uncensored podcast, citing royal sources who expressed 'a lot of wariness' about the trip, which is expected to see King Charles reunited with his youngest grandchildren for the first time in four years.
Morgan's Criticism of Harry and Meghan
Morgan said: 'They don't trust them. Period. They just don't trust them. Obviously the King, as a father, would love to see his son. The problem is, everyone around him is saying: How can you trust him, Sir?' He also questioned the couple's activities since stepping down as senior royals in 2020 and moving to the USA, asking: 'Why should they be allowed to march around the world with unofficial royal visits, making tonnes of money for themselves in the process, without doing any royal duty whatsoever?'
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to bring Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, four, to Britain for the first time since 2022 to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games next month. The visit follows a protracted legal battle by Harry against the Home Office over security arrangements, which he cited as a reason for not bringing his family to the UK in recent years. Reports suggest assurances have been given for the July trip.
Security and Family Tensions
After losing a Court of Appeal challenge over his UK security arrangements last year, Harry gave a BBC interview expressing hopes of reconciliation with his family and revealing that King Charles was no longer speaking to him because of the court action. He last saw his father, who is still undergoing treatment for cancer, in September for the first time in 19 months. Reports indicate that Harry's security arrangements are currently under review by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), with a decision pending.
Harry's relationship with his UK-based family has also been strained by accusations he has made since moving abroad. These claims, made in his Oprah interview, Netflix documentary, interviews, and autobiography Spare, include that Charles was jealous of Meghan and Kate, did not hug him when he told him about Princess Diana's death, and that William physically attacked him and pushed him into a dog bowl.
