Police are investigating a serious sexual assault reported at Newstead and Annesley Country Park in Nottinghamshire. The incident occurred in a wooded area of the park shortly after 11am on August 4. Officers have increased patrols in the area and are searching for a white man in his 30s.
Investigation and Patrols
Nottinghamshire Police said an investigation is underway and extra patrols are being carried out. The force's drone and dog units are also involved in heightened police activity.
Detective Inspector Ed Cook said: "While incidents of this nature are extremely rare, they are obviously very concerning for the public."
"I would like to reassure people we have a large team of officers working on this investigation and we are doing everything we can to find the person responsible," he added.
Public Appeal
The suspect has been described as a white man aged in his 30s. Police are urging anyone who saw anything or has information to come forward.
Anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 38 of 7 August. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
