A woman was sexually assaulted while walking through an underpass in Newcastle. The incident occurred just before 2pm on Tuesday in the Newbiggin Hall area.
The female was walking from Thornaby Close in Kington Park towards Greendyke Court when an unknown man approached her and inappropriately touched her over the top of her clothes. The male, described as a black man in his 20s, left the scene before police were contacted.
Police appeal for information
Northumbria Police is urging anybody with information to get in touch. A spokesperson for the force said: "Shortly before 2pm on Tuesday (July 28) we received a report of sexual assault in the Newbiggin Hall area of Newcastle. It was reported that the victim was walking through the underpass from Thornaby Close towards Greendyke Court when a man – unknown to her - approached her and inappropriately touched her over the top of her clothes."
The offender is described as wearing a black T-shirt, grey sweatpants and orange trainers. Enquiries into the report are ongoing.
