A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped in Bangladesh while her husband was tied to a tree. Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the attack, which occurred on Monday night, July 27.
How the Attack Unfolded
The victim's husband was reportedly called out of their home and taken to a secluded area, where he was tied to a tree. The alleged attackers then used his mobile phone to call the woman, asking her to bring cash and jewellery to the location. When she arrived, she found her husband tied up and was then raped by the men.
Arrests and Investigation
The woman screamed for help, prompting the attackers to flee. Locals rushed to the scene and called police. Both the man and woman were taken to hospital. Police raided the area on Tuesday morning, July 28, and arrested three men: Rabbi, 28; Hazrat Ali Khandaker, 42; and Emon Khandaker, 26. They remain in custody.
Victim's Account
According to local media, the woman, treated at Shariatpur General Hospital, said: "They called me there after keeping my husband hostage. I pleaded with them, but they did not listen."
Medical and Forensic Evidence
Dr Mitu Akter, the hospital's Residential Medical Officer, confirmed the woman is undergoing medical treatment. She added: "Vaginal swab and DNA samples have been collected for forensic examination. The matter will be confirmed after receiving the test results."
Police Statement
Bahar Mia, the police officer in charge of the case, said the force rescued the woman after receiving reports from locals. He confirmed three arrests and said the suspects will face further legal action based on the investigation and forensic test results.
