Woman Gang Raped After Spiked Drink in India, Four Hunted

Police in India are investigating an alleged gang rape after a woman was drugged and assaulted by four men, who then dumped her in a field. The 24-year-old victim reportedly left home to collect animal food when the group offered her a spiked drink in Muzaffarnagar, a district in Uttar Pradesh.

Details of the Incident

The woman was subjected to the horrific ordeal before her attackers fled, leaving her abandoned in a nearby forest. Her family grew anxious when she failed to return home and began a search, eventually finding her in the forest. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 13, according to local media reports.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and is believed to be in stable condition. She told police that the men gave her a drugged drink before assaulting her.

Police Investigation and Manhunt

Senior Superintendent Sanjay Kumar confirmed that local police have launched an urgent manhunt to track down the attackers. Three police teams have been deployed to find the suspects, who are still on the run. Authorities have identified one suspect as a man named Umer, but have not released his surname or the identities of the other three.

Police continue to urge the public to come forward with any relevant information that could lead to the arrests.

Context of Recent Attacks

Muzaffarnagar is a district in Uttar Pradesh with an estimated population of over 4.1 million, including around 744,000 residents in its metropolitan region. This attack comes after several other distressing incidents reported in recent weeks.

On June 3, a 41-year-old woman reported being gang-raped by a group of 10 individuals in Karnataka, southwest India. Last month, a 30-year-old factory worker was kidnapped and gang-raped inside a private sleeper bus in northwest Delhi in the early hours of May 11. The mother-of-three was attacked in the Rani Bagh area and later abandoned near the Nangloi Metro station.

Authorities are working to address the spate of violent crimes, with increased patrols and public awareness campaigns.
