According to the Times of India, the victim's family began searching for her after she failed to return home. They eventually discovered her in a nearby forest. The incident reportedly took place in a village in the Muzaffarnagar area of India on Saturday, June 13.
A police spokesperson confirmed that an investigation is underway. The victim underwent a medical examination, and the crime scene was examined for forensic evidence to determine the sequence of events.
Recent Similar Attacks
This alleged attack comes amid a series of similar incidents in India. On June 3, a 41-year-old woman reported being gang-raped by a group of 10 people in Karnataka, southwest India. That attack went unreported for five days until video footage of the incident began circulating.
The alleged victim in that case said she left home after an argument and was walking to her parents' home when two men approached her, claiming they wanted to help. They gave her a drink believed to have been spiked with a sedative before taking her to a farm and raping her.
A police spokesperson for the Davengere region stated, 'We have secured all 10 accused in the case. Further investigation is underway.'
