Swedish Husband Accused of Selling Sex with Wife to 120+ Men

Swedish Husband Faces Aggravated Procurement Charges for Alleged Sex Sales

A man in Sweden, aged in his 60s, is suspected of selling sex with his wife to at least 120 men, according to prosecutors who spoke publicly on Monday. The husband has been in custody since October after his wife reported the incidents to the police, and he denies any wrongdoing.

Large-Scale Exploitation Under Investigation

Investigators believe the husband ruthlessly exploited his wife on a large scale, preparing criminal charges of aggravated procurement. The couple has not been identified publicly, but the case highlights Sweden's strict laws against buying and procuring sex.

Prosecutor Ida Annerstedt declined to discuss details such as coercion or whether the wife was drugged during the sex acts. She confirmed that the indictment against the husband will be brought on March 13, with the trial expected to start soon after.

Legal Ramifications and Broader Charges

If convicted of aggravated procuring, the husband could face a prison sentence ranging from two to 10 years. Swedish law criminalises buying sex and procuring it, but does not penalise sex workers, who are viewed as exploited victims.

In addition to the husband, two men believed to have purchased sex with the woman have been charged, and more suspects are likely to face charges. These individuals could receive up to a year in prison if found guilty. The purchase of sexual services without physical contact, including via the internet, is also illegal in Sweden.

The case underscores ongoing efforts in Sweden to combat sex trafficking and exploitation, with authorities taking a firm stance against those who profit from such activities.
