Schoolgirl Abducted and Gang Raped After Armed Men Storm Home

The victim was reportedly at home alone with her younger brother and sister when the group of armed men surrounded the building. She refused to open the door before the attackers allegedly broke in through a window. They then dragged the girl out of the house and took her to a nearby pond, where police said three men raped her before fleeing.

Attack in Sadarpur

According to The Business Standard, the alleged attack took place in the village of Sadarpur in Bangladesh. The girl's neighbours reportedly spotted her being kidnapped but were threatened and unable to intervene.

Three suspects, identified as 20-year-old Helal Mridha, 16-year-old Rais Sikdar and 18-year-old Roni Bepari, have since been arrested in connection with the reported abduction and rape. Police have also seized a motorcycle that was used in the alleged attack.

Investigation and response

Police are continuing to work to track down the remaining suspects and are keen to hear from any witnesses. Meanwhile, the girl was taken to hospital for medical treatment, but her condition is unknown.

Local MP Shphidul Islam Babul said: "Such a heinous and barbaric crime cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. No matter who the perpetrator is, they will receive zero leniency. Law enforcement agencies have been directed to take the strictest action so the family gets justice as quickly as possible. We will ensure exemplary and maximum punishment for these criminals."

Fatema Islam, a local police officer, confirmed a thorough investigation is underway to detain the remaining suspects. He added that the victim and her family are being supported by specially-trained officials.

It is believed the force have identified seven of the remaining suspects. Their identities have not been publicly revealed.
