A repeat offender has been remanded in custody after being found with more than 18,000 child abuse photos and videos at his home in East Kilbride. Dominic Dalgleish, 24, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week, where he admitted downloading and possessing indecent images between October 2023 and November last year.
Court Details
Dalgleish also pleaded guilty to failing to make devices available for inspection by police officers, breaching a five-year sexual offences prevention order imposed in June 2023. That order followed his conviction for possessing child abuse images, for which he received a community payback order and restrictions on contact with children and access to playparks, schools, or leisure centres.
Police Discovery
Prosecutor Calum Frame told the court that police executed a search warrant at Dalgleish's home in Banff Place on November 5 after receiving intelligence about further offending. Dalgleish claimed he only had a personal computer and a phone. However, officers discovered an Amazon TV box and a USB stick hidden behind a kickboard in the kitchen, both containing child abuse material.
Mr Frame stated: “In total police found 17,078 photos and 1,139 videos on devices seized in his home.”
Sentencing Adjourned
Sheriff Linda Nicolson deferred sentence for background reports, remanding Dalgleish in custody. He has been held since his arrest in November. The case will return to court next month.
