A sweeping police investigation across New South Wales has dismantled a network of alleged child sex offenders, with 19 individuals now facing serious charges related to child abuse material.
The coordinated operation, spanning multiple police districts, targeted offenders sharing and possessing horrific content online, with some victims identified as infants and young children.
Major Blow Against Online Exploitation
Detectives from the Sex Crimes Squad's Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) led the intensive crackdown, executing search warrants at numerous properties across the state. The investigation uncovered a disturbing network of individuals allegedly sharing abusive material through various online platforms.
"This operation has identified and removed dangerous individuals from our communities," stated a police spokesperson. "The protection of children remains our absolute priority."
Fourteen Children Rescued from Harm
Among the most significant outcomes of the operation was the intervention that potentially saved 14 children from ongoing abuse. Police confirmed that child protection measures have been implemented for these vulnerable young victims.
The ages of those charged range from 20 to 71 years, demonstrating that this horrific crime knows no age boundaries. All 19 accused individuals have been strictly granted conditional bail and will face court proceedings in the coming weeks.
