Keith Allen, 82, was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years at Birmingham Crown Court on June 23 after being found guilty at trial of raping a 16-year-old girl in the 1990s. The pensioner, from Sibford Gower, Oxfordshire, was a music teacher who used his position to groom his victim.
Allen invited the teenager to his home in Harborne for music lessons, grooming her from the age of 15. His behaviour progressed from sexual touching to rape, West Midlands Police said.
The victim made a formal complaint in 2023, prompting an investigation by West Midlands Police. Allen was later convicted by a jury.
Abuse of trust
Detective Constable Andrew Jones, from the Major Crime Team, said: "Allen abused the position he had as a music tutor to groom, sexually abuse and rape the teenager. He now faces years behind bars where he can reflect on what he has done and the harm he has caused. I would like to express my gratitude to the brave woman who came forward to report what Allen had done to her as a child. She has been so brave throughout the investigation and court process."

Another teacher jailed
A separate case saw Gary Day-Davies, 55, of Tyldesley, Greater Manchester, jailed in June for the historic sexual abuse of a pupil between 2006 and 2009 at school and at his home. He was found guilty of three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault by touching of a child.
