A horrific incident unfolded in Bangladesh as a mother and her 15-year-old daughter were allegedly gang raped by a group of armed burglars. Police reported that between eight and ten men broke into their home, stealing valuables and assaulting the pair.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday, June 11, in the Dolnighona area of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. The gang reportedly entered through a window, looted jewelry and cash, and then raped both victims before fleeing.
The woman's husband was away for work at the time, while their five-year-old child was present during the attack. Both victims were rushed to the hospital, with the teenager in critical condition.
Suspects Arrested
Local authorities have arrested six men in connection with the crime: Rezaul Karim, 36; brothers Tofazzal Hossain, 23, and Kefayat Hossain, 27; Mohammad Tanzid, 24; Mehedi Hasan, 24; and Mohammad Tareq, 26.
One suspect, identified as Jisan, remains at large. He was released from jail just five days before the attack, where he was held on weapons and robbery charges.
Police Investigation
Abhijit Das, assistant superintendent of police for the Chakaria Circle, confirmed that an organized local criminal network was responsible for the burglary and rapes. The investigation is ongoing, and police are searching for remaining suspects.
The victims' family claimed that the same group had targeted their home on two or three previous occasions. The husband was in Chattogram for work during the break-in.
