A Channel migrant allegedly trafficked a 14-year-old child into Britain after kidnapping and sexually assaulting her, a court heard. It is understood to be the first time a minor has been kidnapped and smuggled across the Channel via the illegal boat network.
Alleged Attack in Belgian Camp
An Afghan man is said to have ensnared the girl in a camp in Belgium in June 2025 and then proceeded to sexually assault the child before sneaking her into the UK from France in one of the dinghies used by gangs to ferry migrants to Britain. The man, who has given three birth dates to authorities, could be 27, 21 or 18. He cannot be named as it could identify his alleged victim.
Arrest and Extradition Proceedings
The Sun reports the Afghan alleged sexual predator was arrested in West London last month after previously having been found to have been living with the girl in Manchester. It is reported he has agreed to be extradited to Belgium to face a trial later this year.
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp told the Sun: “This case is truly sickening. This vile individual should have never been allowed to come to the UK in the first place.”
Court Details and Official Response
Westminster Magistrates' court heard the girl, from Turkey, had been at a reception centre camp for applicants for international protection where residents are free to enter and leave during the day as their asylum requests are considered. It is reported Belgian police said the man was seen leaving the camp with the girl. An appeal was issued once she was reported missing.
The Home Office said it could not comment on individual cases. The National Crime Agency said: “A man wanted by authorities in Belgium was arrested by officers from the NCA’s National Extradition Unit on August 19 in Feltham, West London. He remains in custody as extradition proceedings continue”.
