Robert Erdei, 19, from Leigh, has been jailed for five years and seven months after admitting a series of sexual offences against a vulnerable child during 2024.
Erdei was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, November 6, 2026, following an earlier guilty plea to 22 counts of sexual offences against a child.
Offences and Investigation
He admitted 13 counts of sexual activity with a child, eight counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and one count of causing a child to watch a sexual act.
Greater Manchester Police began an investigation after a report from a partner agency. Erdei was initially arrested on suspicion of child sex offences against a child under the age of 16.
Investigators identified evidence of a range of sexual offending before submitting a case file to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised criminal charges.
Police Response
Following the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Pyke, of GMP's Child Protection Investigation Unit based in Wigan, said: "My thoughts remain with the survivor concerned in this horrific case and their family.
"Erdei has showed clear intent and wilfully engaged in sexual offending against the most vulnerable of victims, a child.
"Protecting children will always be the highest priority at GMP and we will always take the strongest possible action where allegations of this nature are made."
