A 27-year-old German citizen has been detained in a psychiatric hospital on suspicion of murder after a British woman was fatally stabbed at a railway station in Germany, police have said.
The 31-year-old woman suffered “severe injuries” in the knife attack at Rosenheim train station at around 12.50am on Sunday and later died in hospital.
Arrest at the scene
The suspect, described as a German citizen of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene “immediately after the attack”, Bavarian Police said.
He appeared before a judge later on Sunday and, following a request from the Traunstein Public Prosecutor’s Office, was detained in a psychiatric hospital.
Investigation ongoing
Bavarian Police said the investigation by the police and the public prosecutor’s office is ongoing.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Germany and are in touch with the local authorities.”
