A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in Coatbridge. The incident occurred in a lane near Blair Road and Auldhame Street at around 1am on Sunday, June 28.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Police Scotland confirmed that officers were called to the scene following reports of a sexual assault. An initial appeal released on the same day stated that the girl was approached by a man and sexually assaulted in the lane. Following enquiries, a 27-year-old man was arrested and charged. He is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 4.
Community Reassurance
Detective Inspector Lorraine Wilson said: “Incidents of this nature can cause a great deal of concern and officers are continuing to engage with the local community to provide reassurance. We would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public for their support during this investigation.”
