Man arrested after sexual assaults at Liverpool festival

A man has been arrested following the alleged sexual assault of two women at a music festival in Liverpool. Merseyside Police reported the incident occurred between 9.30pm and 10pm on Thursday, June 18, during the On the Waterfront festival at the Pier Head.

Arrest and investigation

Officers received a report that two women had been inappropriately touched. A 59-year-old man from Huyton was arrested at the event on suspicion of sexual assault. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detectives are now appealing for the two women involved, as well as anyone who witnessed the incident, to come forward as enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Jemma Berry said: “Although our officers made an arrest at the event we are continuing with our enquiries into the incident, and I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward. As such, we are appealing for the two victims of the sexual assault to please contact us as a matter of urgency. In addition as it was a busy event with thousands of people attending the music festival, we also ask for people who witnessed the incident to please also contact us. I would like to reassure the public that incidents such as this are rare, and we are taking this incident extremely seriously.”
