Spanish police are investigating the alleged gang rape of an 18-year-old British woman in Magaluf, Majorca. Five French tourists and a Swiss tourist have been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and violation of privacy.
The incident is said to have occurred early on Monday at a hotel in the popular holiday resort. The victim met a group of young tourists in the early hours and followed them to their hotel, where she was allegedly forced to have sexual intercourse and filmed by her attackers.
The woman later escaped and was found calling for help on the street, where hotel staff came to her aid. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
This is the second suspected gang rape in Majorca in recent months, following the arrest of a group of German tourists in July. Magaluf, known for its cheap alcohol and beach parties, has been targeted by authorities seeking to attract more upmarket visitors and families.
