A Larkhall man has been placed on the sex offenders' register for three years after child abuse material was discovered on his phone.
Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that Matthew Coleman was not at home when police officers arrived on June 24 last year. His wife was present and witnessed the officers carry out a systematic search of the house.
Phone seized and analysed
A phone belonging to Coleman was seized and analysed. It contained one photograph showing child sex abuse and four videos of a similar nature, all in the most depraved category.
Coleman, 39, of Duke Street, Larkhall, a first offender, admitted possessing indecent images of children.
Sentence and conditions
His lawyer stated that he has a full-time job and the support of his parents, who were in court with him.
Sheriff Linda Nicolson placed Coleman under social work supervision for three years and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work. He must have no unsupervised contact with any child under 18 unless accompanied by an adult over the age of 21 who is aware of his offending.
