Erik Nummerdor, the husband of Malia Nummerdor who is facing bestiality charges in Florida, has shared an emotional video on Facebook, saying "people would rather see me hanged than tell the truth". He warned that the situation will get "ugly" as more information comes to light.
Erik, who has a past involving alcohol, drugs, and a prison sentence, said he has been subjected to online hate since his wife made headlines. He said that while he once did not know the difference between "right and wrong", he does now.
Allegations and police investigation
Malia, 38, was recently charged after Erik posted disturbing allegations on Facebook, claiming he had photo and video evidence of the alleged acts. Police contacted Erik after seeing the posts and interviewed him. According to police documents, Erik had installed security cameras in the home to find out who had been taking money from the coin jar.
Upon reviewing footage from a bedroom camera, he alleges he found a video of his wife engaging in sex acts with their dog. Police were shown images from the recording, and Erik gave officers access to his laptop.
Wife's denial and online support
When interviewed, Malia acknowledged the video with the dog but said there was no sexual contact, claiming she was just petting the dog. She has since gained a support community online who claim Erik "framed her", urging people to remember that "everyone is innocent until proved guilty". A fundraiser started by supporters has since been taken down.
In the video, Erik explained his troubled past: "Let me tell you, just get it out there now, I have a past I have a history, I did some bad things growing up - drugs, alcohol, jail, prison sentence, I wasn't the greatest of people back then. I learned a lot of right and wrong, and I know the difference between right and wrong now."
He added: "I know there's a lot of you who can't stand me and rather see me hanged for telling the truth. And that's what this is, the truth unfortunately. People don't realise that we're all human and we're capable of anything but I don't even know what to say, how to say anything about this."
Emotional plea and court date
Erik claimed the situation will get "ugly" as more information emerges, saying: "There's a lot that's gonna come to the table and it's messy, it's ugly, but for anyone who thinks that I didn't consider our kids, these families, our friends, with this - I thought really hard about this and ultimately I know I did the right thing, and I was put here to speak for the ones who couldn't speak for themselves."
He said he would need therapy as a result of what he allegedly saw on the home CCTV footage, adding that he knew he needed to stand up "for those who can speak up themselves", presumably referring to the pet dog. He said: "There's so much hate in this world and I'm getting so much of it for standing up for what's right. I'm gonna need some help, I don't want money, I need some therapy for sure because my brain is just gone because of all this. I'm not crazy. But seeing so many rally for the other end and it doesn't matter how much comes through [money], it's never gonna change the outcome - what is rock solid and 100% truthful and provable."
Charlotte County Sheriff's Office confirmed to the Daily Star that Malia was released on bail and is next to appear in court on October 19. She has denied the allegations. It has not been confirmed whether the dog has been removed from the family home, where Malia is believed to have multiple dogs.
