Former Hollyoaks actor Rizwan Khan has been sentenced to 11 years and nine months in prison for a series of violent sex offences, including the rape of two women.
The 40-year-old, who denied all charges, was convicted earlier this year at Teesside Crown Court, where the harrowing impact of his crimes was laid bare by his victims.
The Chilling Details of the Attacks
During the trial, jurors heard how Khan subjected one woman to a brutal physical assault before raping her. Prosecutor Robin Turton revealed the disturbing threat Khan made to his victim: "I need what I need. I want what I want. You, as a woman, should abide by what a man wants."
The court was told that Khan had slapped the woman, punched her in the back, and strangled her during the horrific ordeal. The victim told police she was so terrified that she eventually felt she had no choice but to submit.
In a separate incident, Khan was convicted of raping another woman after she had fallen asleep. She awoke to find him performing a sex act on her, after she had previously rejected his advances because she was tired and had work in the morning.
Life-Long Consequences for the Survivors
On Monday, November 12, 2025, harrowing victim impact statements were read aloud at Teesside Crown Court. One survivor described suffering from severe anxiety and nightmares in the aftermath of the attack.
"What he did goes round and round in my head," her statement read. "When I see his face in the newspaper, I feel sick."
Judge Paul Reid, passing sentence, stated that Khan demonstrated "entitlement and hostility towards females".
The Sentence and Future Restrictions
Khan, of Union Street, Middlesbrough, was handed an 11-year and nine-month prison sentence for his crimes, which also included sexually assaulting another individual and slapping a child.
In addition to his custodial term, Khan will be subject to several life-long restrictions:
- He must sign the sex offenders register for life.
- He has been made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order.
- Restraining orders have been enforced, preventing him from contacting his victims.
Khan, a father of one, had a late start to his acting career, breaking into the industry at 34. He played Doctor Peak in Hollyoaks in 2019 and returned the following year as a paramedic. He also had roles in Vera, Holby City, This England, and the 2021 film Everybody's Talking About Jamie.
