A serving Durham Constabulary officer has appeared at court charged with attempted sexual communication with a child and misconduct in a public office. Haydyn Brunsdon was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning (September 25) and immediately suspended from duty.
Charges and court appearance
The 31-year-old, who is of police constable rank, was charged with two counts of attempted sexual communication with a child, and an additional charge of misconduct in a public office. He appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court this morning (October 1) where he did not enter any pleas.
Bail and ongoing investigation
He was released on bail to appear at Durham Crown Court later this month. He remains suspended from duty while a criminal investigation is carried out by the force’s Professional Standards Department.
