A 'despicable' individual who subjected a woman to nearly a year of horrific abuse has been imprisoned. Graeme Garrow, 43, received an eight-year and three-month sentence at the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday.
Garrow was convicted of multiple sexual and violent offenses against a woman in the Tayside region. The court also imposed a non-harassment order and placed him on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Following a trial at the High Court in Dundee on May 5, Garrow was found guilty of abusing the woman between July 2023 and May 2024. Police Scotland described him as an 'extremely dangerous individual' who committed 'despicable' crimes.
The police acknowledged the bravery of the victim and urged others to come forward. Detective Constable Leanne Strachan stated: 'Garrow is an extremely dangerous individual who subjected a woman to horrific abuse. He will now face the consequences of his despicable actions. We recognize how challenging these investigations can be for those who have experienced abuse, and I hope this result offers some closure to the woman Garrow committed his crimes against.'
'Police Scotland does not tolerate sexual abuse or violence in any form, and all reports will be thoroughly investigated. I would encourage anyone who has experienced or is experiencing this type of criminality to please come forward and make a report. You will be listened to, you will be taken seriously, and our specially trained officers, alongside our partner agencies, will support you throughout.'
