Anthony Durkan, 35, has pleaded guilty to 19 counts of voyeurism for recording women through their windows at night. The dad-of-two carried out 'serious and sustained predatory behaviour' between 2020 and 2025, spying on women when they were undressed. Officers found hundreds of videos in a hidden folder on his phone.
Details of the offences
Durkan pleaded guilty at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, bringing his total voyeurism offences to 26 after he admitted to seven separate incidents in March. He repeatedly visited one woman’s home in Islington in the early hours of January. Her neighbour saw a man 'dressed entirely in black and wearing a balaclava' walking outside the property, holding his phone up to the windows. The neighbour’s Ring doorbell captured the incident.
A few weeks later, another woman saw a man recording her through her window. When she confronted him, he fled, but another neighbour’s doorbell footage captured him. After increased patrols, officers in an unmarked car spotted him outside another property in Islington. They searched his phone and found a hidden gallery with hundreds of images and videos of women, with no indication they knew they were being recorded. A third victim was identified through the pictures, but police believe there are more.
Police comment
Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger said: 'Durkan’s offending represented a serious and sustained course of predatory behaviour, deliberately targeting women who were entirely unaware they were being filmed, without their consent and in the privacy of their own homes.' She thanked the women who came forward and said the conviction 'reflects the severity of these crimes and means a dangerous individual has been brought to justice, preventing further harm to women.'
Durkan will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court at a later date.
