Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that a man arrested from a school in Bolton on suspicion of grooming offences has been bailed pending further investigation. The arrest took place on Thursday, July 2, and the man was taken into police custody before being released on bail on Saturday, July 4.
Investigation Involves Three Girls
GMP stated that the investigation relates to alleged inappropriate communication with three schoolgirls. Officers are in the early stages of their enquiries, working to establish the full circumstances and assessing whether any further incidents have occurred beyond those already identified.
Detective Inspector Janet Malone, from GMP’s Bolton district, said: “Any report of this nature is something that we deal with robustly, thoroughly, and with the sensitivity that it deserves. We are in contact with the affected girls and their families, and we are supporting them as our investigation progresses.”
Police Urge Public Not to Speculate
Police have urged members of the public not to speculate about the identities of those involved on social media. DI Malone added: “We are aware that rumours are circulating on social media, and I would urge people to not speculate or share alleged names. In any case, this could damage our investigation and similarly, misidentification can cause significant problems and harm itself.”
GMP is liaising with the local authority and appropriate partners to address concerns raised by parents and carers. Anyone with concerns is encouraged to come forward to ensure they receive the best support available.
