Victoria Anne Cranmer, a 25-year-old babysitter from Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, has been charged with multiple counts of child sexual abuse after allegedly recording the assault of a child under 13 and sharing the footage on Snapchat. The case was cracked when investigators recognized a unique tattoo on her leg that read 'boobs' in the video.
Roommate Discovered Footage After Falling Out
According to court documents, Cranmer had been given a phone by her roommate. After a falling out, Cranmer was kicked out of the home and returned the phone to the roommate. It was then that the roommate allegedly discovered a 14-second video of the abuse. Other videos of Cranmer and the victim were also found on the device, with at least one shared on Snapchat, prosecutors say.
Police seized the phone and obtained a search warrant. Witness statements indicate Cranmer could be heard laughing in the videos. The abuse is alleged to have taken place on May 6 in the bathroom of Cranmer's home.
Distinctive Tattoo Led to Identification
Authorities recognized Cranmer's leg tattoo, which depicted the word 'boobs,' in the footage. This evidence, combined with the roommate's report, led to her arrest. The victim's mother became concerned after learning about the video and confirmed Cranmer had babysat her child. She has since stopped leaving her child with Cranmer.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Cranmer has been charged with manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, sexual assault, possession of child sexual abuse material, and endangering the welfare of a child. She remains in jail as of the latest reports, and no plea details have been disclosed. The case highlights the role of digital evidence and social media in uncovering crimes against children.
