Airdrie sex offender jailed again for child abuse images

Martin Grimason, 36, of Kippen Street, has been jailed for 14 months at Airdrie Sheriff Court after admitting downloading indecent images between February 2023 and June last year. He was subject to two bail orders at the time of the offence.

Court sentence and restrictions

Sheriff Derek Livingston said a prison sentence was necessary because of Grimason's record and the risk to the public. Grimason was placed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.

The sheriff also imposed a five-year sexual harm prevention order, which will place restrictions on him when he completes his prison term. He will be under supervision for a period when he is released.

Previous conviction and monitoring breach

Last year Grimason was jailed for 12 months at the same court on a similar charge. He then received another three months after admitting breaching the requirements of the sex offenders' register on his release from prison.

The court heard Grimason should have kept police monitoring him in the community up to date about his online activity. When officers made an unannounced visit to his home, they found Facebook and X accounts he had not told them about.
