Paedophile Jailed for 11 Years for Abusing Two Vulnerable Schoolgirls
Paedophile Jailed 11 Years for Abusing Two Schoolgirls

A long-haired paedophile who sexually abused two schoolgirls has been jailed for 11 years. Perverted Craig Ferguson, 46, sexually assaulted the two girls on separate occasions in the Gateshead area – first plying one of them with cannabis in an attempt to get her to comply to his depraved desires.

But he was arrested after the offences were reported by the victims to trusted professionals and then on to police where they were investigated by Northumbria Police’s safeguarding department. Following what officers say was a complex investigation, Ferguson was arrested and questioned where he denied any wrongdoing. But as the evidence mounted up he was subsequently charged.

Last week following a six-day trial, Ferguson, of Gateshead, was found guilty of 10 child sexual offences at Newcastle Crown Court. The sex beast, who sports long bleached hair, had previously pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and possession of a bladed article.

Now at the same court he has been sentenced to 11 years in prison with one year on extended licence once he is released due to the court classifying him as a dangerous offender. Ferguson must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence behind bars before he will be eligible for release from prison.

As part of his sentence, he will also spend the rest of his life on the Sex Offenders’ Register – and he was also handed a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and two lifelong restraining orders.

Speaking after the sentencing hearing, Detective Sergeant Alan Gibbons, of Northumbria Police, said: “Craig Ferguson is a sexual predator who has continually taken advantage of vulnerable children for his own sexual gains.

“As always, my thoughts and appreciation go towards the two victim-survivors in this case – who both came forward to make reports around this dangerous man. They’ve both shown great bravery and dignity through the entire investigation and court process – which has now ended with their abuser being put behind bars for a lengthy stint.”

Det Sgt Gibbons continued: “The sexual abuse of children is horrific and, as a Force, we’ll relentlessly pursue justice against anyone who looks to take advantage of the most vulnerable amongst us – children. No-one should ever have to experience this type of criminality, but please know if you have, we’re here and we’re ready to listen.”
