Drunk driver jailed after Buckie nightclub crash

A man has been sentenced to four years in prison after a drink driving incident left four pedestrians with serious injuries outside a Scottish nightclub.

Intoxicated Driver Mounts Pavement

Christopher Parry was more than three times over the legal drink drive limit when he got behind the wheel of his car in Buckie, Moray. The court heard that Parry had been drinking at the Purple nightclub before the incident.

After leaving the venue, Parry mounted the pavement with his vehicle and ploughed into a group of people. The crash, which happened outside the nightclub, resulted in four individuals sustaining significant injuries.

Attempt to Stop Driver Failed

A fellow clubber, Michael Rodgers, witnessed Parry's intoxicated state and tried to prevent him from driving away. Despite this intervention, Parry proceeded to get into his car and attempt to leave the area, leading directly to the collision.

The case was heard at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday, where the details of the reckless event were presented.

Sentence and Driving Ban

Lady Drummond presided over the case and delivered the sentence. Christopher Parry was jailed for four years for his actions.

In addition to the prison term, the judge imposed a substantial driving prohibition. Parry has been banned from driving for six years, a measure intended to protect the public upon his eventual release.

The court's decision underscores the severe consequences of driving under the influence and the lasting impact such choices have on victims.
