Driver jailed for 85mph crash that killed three young men

A 21-year-old woman has been sentenced to prison after a high-speed crash that claimed the lives of three young men in Stirlingshire.

Reckless driving leads to tragic collision

Jorja Colville admitted causing the deaths by driving dangerously at excessive speed on the C3 Moss Road near the village of Dunmore in July 2024. The court heard that Colville, an early years assistant from Stirling, was driving her white Ford Focus at speeds in excess of 85mph when she lost control on a bend.

The vehicle left the road, travelled onto a verge, and struck a tree. The crash resulted in the deaths of her three passengers: Reece Williams, 23, Lewis Soden, 24, and Connor Page, 21.

Witness account and court sentencing

Advocate depute Scott McKenzie told Stirling Sheriff Court that witness Kirstin Scobbie was driving at the 60mph speed limit when Colville's car, registration JO17 RJA, overtook her at high speed. Shortly after, Ms Scobbie encountered debris and discovered the overturned Focus in bushes, with Colville screaming for help and covered in blood.

At her sentencing hearing on 8 January 2026, Sheriff Court officials heard that Colville had no previous convictions. Her defence noted she has since been diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, and depression, for which she receives medication and therapy.

Three-year prison term imposed

Despite the mitigating circumstances, the court handed down a custodial sentence. Jorja Colville was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in prison for her role in the fatal incident.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of dangerous driving and excessive speed on rural roads.
