Diddy's prison release date brought forward to February 2028
Diddy's prison release date moved up to February 2028

Sean 'Diddy' Combs is now expected to be released from prison on February 6, 2028, three weeks earlier than his most recent release date. The 56-year-old music mogul was originally set for release on January 21, 2028, but last month it was reported that he would be released six weeks later, on March 2, 2028. Other release dates have included February 5 and February 20.

Combs is serving a four-year, two-month sentence for his conviction last year on prostitution-related charges for transporting people across state lines for sexual encounters. He was convicted in federal court of two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution, but the jury found him not guilty of the most serious offences of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

Transfer to New Facility

Combs had been held at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, but last month it emerged that he had been moved to FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed the move but provided no further details. The agency said it does not discuss the conditions of confinement for anyone in its custody, including reasons for transfer, for privacy, safety, and security.

"Decisions about inmate placement are made by the BOP, and we are not in a position to speak to the circumstances surrounding this transfer," said Combs' spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer. "Sean remains focused on moving forward, and we hope that his time at the new facility will be productive and without unnecessary disruption."

Conditions and Health Concerns

Last month, it was reported that Combs was continuing to enjoy aspects of his millionaire lifestyle at FCI Fort Dix, smuggling in Hennessy, having fellow inmates cook, clean, make his bed and give him massages. He was also rushed to hospital from his prison block after reportedly suffering a head injury, although the cause remains unclear. Sources at the time told TMZ that "the ambulance pulled out of Fort Dix around 1am," but then claimed that the injury was "not life-threatening," as it was noted that the rapper was "conscious and speaking" when he was transported back to the prison early on Saturday morning.

A spokesperson for Combs told the Mirror: "Sean just wants to serve his time respectfully and return home to his family as soon as possible. That's where his focus is, not on the constant speculation surrounding his release date."

Sentencing and Appeals

Upon his release, Combs will be subject to a five-year term of supervised release. Ahead of his sentencing last year, he wrote a four-page apology letter to the judge, in which he claimed: "I literally lost my mind. I'm sorry for that and always will be… I lost my way. My downfall was rooted in my selfishness. I have been humbled and broken to my core… The old me died in jail, and a new version of me was born. Prison will change you or kill you – I choose to live."

In December last year, Combs' legal team pleaded with an appeals court to secure his release from prison. They claimed in a filing with the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan that Combs was treated harshly at sentencing by a federal judge who let evidence surrounding charges he was acquitted of unjustly influence the punishment. At sentencing, Judge Arun Subramanian said that when calculating the prison term, he considered Combs' treatment of two former girlfriends who testified that the Bad Boy Records founder beat them and coerced them into having sex with male sex workers while he watched and filmed the encounters, sometimes masturbating.
