Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that a 25-year-old man died at Penmaenau Farm caravan park near Builth Wells on the night of Saturday, July 18. The death is being treated as unexplained, and three men have been arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences.
Incident Details
Police responded to a medical emergency at the site, which serves as the main campsite for the Royal Welsh Show, at approximately 10:30pm. Paramedics attended but the young man was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported hearing screams and seeing people evacuated from the site.
A woman whose daughter was staying nearby told Wales Online: "My daughter and her friend are a few rows down they watched the caravan involved be recovered on a lorry this morning. Everyone who was in their caravans [at the time of the incident] were made to leave even if they were clothed or not."
Police Response
Chief Superintendent Steve Davies stated: "This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the young man’s family at this difficult time. I would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident, and the death is currently being treated as unexplained. There is no evidence of any ongoing risk to the wider public in connection with this sad incident."
The three arrested men remain in police custody. A police presence remains at the scene while enquiries continue. The Royal Welsh Show spokeswoman confirmed an ongoing police investigation but declined further comment. Penmaenau Farm campsite also declined to comment.
