Wythenshawe assault: man fighting for life, 46-year-old arrested

Greater Manchester Police have reported that a man is fighting for his life in hospital with a serious head injury following a reported assault. Officers responded to the incident at around 10:30 am on Friday on Brownley Court Road in Wythenshawe.

The victim, aged in his 40s, was found at the scene and taken to hospital. In a statement, GMP described his condition as 'life-threatening'. A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Section 20 assault and remains in custody for questioning.

Police cordon in place

Brownley Court Road runs off Hollyhedge Road, near Benchill. A police cordon was in place at the scene on Friday. GMP stated: 'Officers are responding to reports of an assault at around 10:30am this morning on Brownley Court Road in Wythenshawe. Upon attendance, they have located a man in his 40s with an injury to his head, and he has been taken to hospital for treatment. He remains there in life-threatening condition.'

Police added that enquiries are ongoing. No further details have been released and the man has not been named.
