Woman charged with murder of Trevor Hilton in Bolton

Samantha Nuttall, 49, of Bradford Street, Bolton, has been charged with the murder of 75-year-old Trevor Hilton, who was found dead at Hargreaves House flats in Bolton on Friday, July 17, 2026. Nuttall was due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Monday, July 20.

Family tribute to Trevor Hilton

Trevor Hilton's family described him as 'a dear father, grandfather and brother to his siblings whose life was taken far too soon.' A family spokesperson said: 'Trevor was such a joker and we will miss the good times and will cherish the memories that we have. Trevor had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need, he will always be in our thoughts.' The family added that his loss has 'left a hole in our family which cannot be filled' and requested privacy.

Police investigation and charges

Greater Manchester Police were called to Hargreaves House on Ormrod Street at around 8am on Friday, July 17, following reports of an incident. Mr Hilton was pronounced dead at the scene. A murder investigation was launched, and on Sunday, GMP confirmed that Samantha Nuttall had been charged with a single count of murder. She was remanded into custody pending her court appearance.
