Police have launched an investigation after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped at a popular beauty spot in Stoke-on-Trent. The incident occurred at Berryhill Fields, a large public green space and nature reserve off Dividy Road, at around 8:15 pm on Thursday, July 2.
Police cordon established at scene
Officers from Staffordshire Police set up a cordon at the scene following the report. The teenager told police she had been attacked by a man in the area, which is frequented by walkers, runners, and dog walkers.
A police spokesperson said: "We are investigating following reports of a rape in Stoke-on-Trent. We were called at around 8.15pm yesterday (Thursday 2 July) to Berryhill Fields, off Dividy Road, after a 17-year-old girl reported she had been raped by a man."
Appeal for information
Detectives are urging anyone who was in the vicinity at the time or who may have information to come forward. The spokesperson added: "Officers established a scene in the area and our enquiries are ongoing. Anyone who has any information which might help our investigation is asked to contact us."
