West Midlands Police have launched an investigation after a 15-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound in a park near Newtown Shopping Centre in Birmingham.
Emergency services were called to Newton Row just after 10.30pm on Thursday, 23 July, following reports of a shooting. The teenager was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Police response and enquiries
It is understood the shooting occurred at a nearby park on Porchester Street. Police are conducting CCTV enquiries and have increased patrols in the area over the coming days.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We're investigating after a teenager was discovered with a gun shot wound on Newtown Row, Newtown at just after 10.30pm yesterday (23 July). It's understood he was shot at the nearby park by Porchester Street. The 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or changing."
