Sudanese national Chan Mathok Atak, 19, has been charged with piloting a small boat from France to the UK, endangering another person during the journey by sea on Thursday.
Atak, from South Sudan, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Margate Magistrates' Court on Monday, the National Crime Agency said.
Migrant Crossings Continue
Home Office figures show 366 people arrived in three boats on Thursday, amid warm, sunny weather and calm sea conditions.
In Andy Burnham's first week as Prime Minister, 641 migrants have made the crossing from France to Britain, including a record 165 in a single boat – surpassing the previous record of 128 set in July.
Death Toll
Between 2018 and 2025, a total of 162 people died attempting to cross the Channel in small boats, according to the University of Oxford's Migration Observatory.
