Interpol has requested assistance from Pakistani authorities after a Range Rover Sport stolen from the UK in 2022 was traced to a port in Karachi. The black vehicle, originally registered as MK70 OKW, was taken from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, in November 2022.
The SUV's onboard telematics system signalled its location in the Saddar area of Karachi in February, more than 6,800km from its original owner. Pakistan's National Central Bureau of Interpol confirmed that UK authorities have asked local police to help trace and recover the vehicle.
Senior Karachi police officer Amjad Ahmed Shaikh, who heads the anti-car lifting cell, stated: 'We received a letter from Interpol requesting assistance in recovering a vehicle stolen from the UK.' He added that they have requested an updated location from Interpol to proceed with recovery.
The original owner remains unknown, and the Range Rover is still listed as stolen in the global Interpol database. This incident follows a similar case in 2022, when a Bentley Mulsanne worth £200,000 stolen from London was found in Karachi after a tip-off from British intelligence.
