Asad Hussain, 36, of Hankinson Avenue, Heald Green, Stockport, was jailed for eight years at Chester Crown Court on June 29 after being convicted of stalking involving serious harm and distress, assault by beating, and failing to provide passwords to his devices. The court heard that Hussain created a bogus Tinder profile using his former partner's personal information, directing scores of men to her home.
Harassment and Fake Tinder Profile
The victim, who had a brief relationship with Hussain in 2024, described him as 'possessive, jealous and controlling'. After the split, Hussain persistently contacted her friends and daughters. By July 2024, he had set up a fake Tinder account, sending as many as 35 men to her address. Judge Michael Leeming stated: 'You sent a significant number of men, as many as 35, to her home address. You told some she had a rape fantasy and told some to 'give the door a good shove', which happened on two occasions.'
Hussain spied on the victim from a nearby layby and unmatched the men on Tinder once they followed his instructions. On one day alone, four men attended the house.
Victim's Impact Statement
In a statement read to the court, the victim said: 'My home has been violated. He created a fictional narrative that put my life at risk. There are so many men out there who were told that I want them to enter my home and harm me. Just because I told Asad no. What happens if I come across one of them?' She added: 'I am permanently anxious and scared and nowhere feels safe. It is a pure miracle that I was not harmed but I still have mental scars.'
Obstruction and Sentencing
Hussain employed 'significant' planning to frustrate police, swapping his number plate and discarding multiple mobile phones. He refused to provide the password to an iPad after police served a section 49 RIPA notice. Defence barrister Phillip Clemo conceded Hussain did not accept the verdict. Judge Leeming sentenced him to seven years for stalking and a further 12 months for failing to comply with the RIPA notice, imposing a 15-year restraining order. The judge noted: 'Your behaviour has ruined her life. She has installed extensive security measures including a six-foot gate and indoor and outdoor CCTV.'
