Melling shooting: suspect charged with wounding appears in court

Michael Kenneth Scott, 35, of Waddicar Lane, Melling, is set to appear at South Sefton Magistrates' Court on Friday morning after being charged in connection with a shooting that left a 44-year-old man with a neck injury.

Shooting incident in Melling

Armed police, a police helicopter, and numerous patrol cars were dispatched to Waddicar Lane in Melling around 11:15am on Wednesday, July 1, following reports of a shooting. Officers found a 44-year-old man from Netherton who had been shot in the neck with an air rifle outside the Go Local store. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Charges and court appearance

Scott has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and possessing a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. He was remanded in custody and will appear in court on Friday morning. The Liverpool Echo will provide updates from the proceedings.
