A man has been left with serious injuries after being hit by a car following a short police pursuit in Oldham on Tuesday evening (July 7). The incident occurred on Park Road in the Glodwick area shortly before 7pm.
Police Pursuit and Collision
Officers in Oldham were alerted to a car being driven dangerously. The vehicle then passed a police car at speed, prompting a short pursuit. A witness reported that the police car 'spun around' to follow the suspect vehicle. Within seconds, a pedestrian was knocked down.
Injuries and Arrest
The pedestrian, a man, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital. A man was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The scene showed a heavy police presence, including traffic officers, and ambulances. Park Road was cordoned off between Landseer Street and Alexandra Street for investigations.
Police Statement
A force spokesperson said: 'Shortly before 7pm this evening, officers in the Oldham area were made aware of a vehicle driving in dangerous manner, with the vehicle soon after passing a police car at speed. Shortly after, a collision occurred between the vehicle and a pedestrian, leaving the pedestrian with serious injuries on Park Road. He has been taken to hospital for treatment. A man has now been arrested for causing serious injury by dangerous driving.'
