A man has appeared in court charged over the deaths of four men in a car crash in Huyton last month. Merseyside Police were called to East Prescot Road in the early hours of Friday, July 24, to reports a black Cupra Formentor had crashed into a lamppost.
Victims named
Emergency services attended, but four men died at the scene. They were later named as Jack Diggle, 23, Benjamin Dooley, 23, Andrew Roberts, 24, and Craig Shackleton-Brady, 26.
Court appearance
James Diggle from Alundale Road in West Derby appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court this morning, Saturday August 8, charged with four counts of aiding and abetting causing death by dangerous driving. The 27-year-old did not enter a plea.
He was remanded into custody and is set to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, September 7.
Police appeal
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "As criminal proceedings are now active, we would ask that the public refrain from commenting on, or speculating about, the circumstances of this case online as this could unintentionally prejudice the judicial process.
"Our thoughts remain with the families and loved ones of the four men who tragically lost their lives, and we ask that their privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time."
