A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault following a disturbance on Wigan Road in Bolton on Saturday, July 11. Officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to the scene and subsequently detained the suspect, who remains in custody for questioning.
Incident Details and Police Response
The arrest was made in connection with a sexual assault against an adult male victim. Police have increased patrols in the area to reassure the public and deter further incidents. Chief Inspector Chris Boyd of GMP's Bolton district said: "We currently have a man in custody following this incident and we would like to reassure the public that incidents of this nature will not be tolerated."
Boyd praised bystanders who intervened before police arrived: "I would like to thank the members of the public who supported prior to police arrival and the suspect's arrest." He added that officers will continue to patrol the area and encouraged anyone with concerns to speak with them.
