A 46-year-old man from Cardiff has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a large fire damaged three neighbouring properties on Seager Drive in Grangetown early on Saturday morning.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and South Wales Police were called to the scene at approximately 4am on Saturday, July 18, following reports of a property fire. Fire crews arrived to find a significant blaze affecting multiple homes.
The fire service issued a statement advising residents in the Grangetown area to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke from the fire. Several fire appliances were deployed to tackle the flames.

A South Wales Police spokesperson confirmed that a 46-year-old man from Cardiff has been arrested on suspicion of arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered. He is currently in police custody.
“Officers were called to Seager Drive, Grangetown, Cardiff following a report of a property fire at around 4am today (Saturday July 18),” the spokesperson said. “The fire has done damage to three neighbouring houses on the street.”
