Jurors have been discharged in the trial of a husband accused of murdering his wife. Syed Ahmad, 45, is charged with the murder of his wife Anam Rafay on January 27 2026. He denies the charge.
Court Proceedings
Manchester Crown Court previously heard that Mr Ahmad accepted he killed his wife by repeatedly stabbing her, but denied intending to kill her or intending to cause her really serious harm. The defence case is that he did not intend to kill her and was suffering from 'abnormal mental functioning' at the time.
Emergency services were called to Lulworth Gardens in Wythenshawe on January 27 this year. Mrs Rafay was discovered outside the property with a number of stab wounds to her neck, body, arms and legs.
Charges and Adjournment
Mr Ahmad, of Lulworth Gardens, Wythenshawe, denies murder and an alternate offence of manslaughter. The case was adjourned to tomorrow morning, Wednesday.
