A woman has been charged with the murder of her 70-year-old mother after the pair vanished for months earlier this year. Emma Nightingale, 36, from Lowestoft, appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court on December 13 charged with killing Lorna Nightingale.
Lorna was reported missing after last being seen in Lowestoft in February, while Emma was last seen in Colchester in June. Police launched a search on August 24, finding them "safe and well" on September 30.
Emergency services were called to Blackhorse Road in Walthamstow, London, on December 11 following reports of an unresponsive woman. Lorna was pronounced dead at the scene, with police believing she died between November 1 and December 11.
Emma, whose address was given as Blackhorse Road, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey in London on January 9. The extensive search involved multiple police units and partner agencies, including British Transport Police.
