Anthony Durkan, a 36-year-old father of two, has pleaded guilty to 26 voyeurism charges after being caught filming women through the windows of their homes in the middle of the night. The Metropolitan Police are appealing for potential victims in Islington to come forward.
Caught on doorbell footage
Durkan was rumbled when doorbell footage captured him sneaking around a woman's home in Islington and filming her through her windows in the early hours. He admitted 19 voyeurism charges at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, adding to seven earlier guilty pleas entered on March 26, bringing the total to 26.
Prosecutor Edward Kalber described Durkan as someone who "poses a real risk to women and girls in our communities" and informed the court: "He was filming them in their private residences in various states of undress."
Hundreds of images found
The Metropolitan Police revealed that a review of Durkan's mobile phone uncovered a hidden gallery "containing hundreds of images and videos of women." There is no evidence any of the women knew they were being filmed. A search of his home led to the seizure of five additional mobile devices and a small camera.
Officers have issued an appeal to women across north London who may have noticed unusual activity around their home, especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning, between January 2020 and March 2026.
Arrest and investigation
A woman contacted police in January 2026 after an unidentified man repeatedly visited her Islington home and filmed through her windows. Her neighbour's doorbell camera captured the man, clad in black and wearing a balaclava, holding his phone up to the windows. In March 2026, another woman in Islington reported a similar incident and confronted the suspect, who fled. On March 25, an undercover officer observed a man approaching a property and repeating the behaviour; he was arrested moments later and identified as Durkan.
Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger, who headed the investigation, said: "Durkan's offending represented a serious and sustained course of predatory behaviour, deliberately targeting women who were entirely unaware they were being filmed, without their consent and in the privacy of their own homes." She thanked the women who came forward and noted that swift investigative work led to Durkan's arrest during a proactive patrol.
Sentencing pending
Durkan, dressed in a white jacket and jeans, entered his guilty pleas on Tuesday. He was granted conditional bail and will be sentenced at a date to be determined at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
