Human Barbie's Death Ruled Accidental Cocaine Overdose, Family Disputes
Brazilian influencer's death ruled accidental cocaine overdose

Brazilian social media star Barbara Jankavski, famed online as the 'Human Barbie', died from an accidental cocaine overdose, authorities have concluded. However, her family and public prosecutors are challenging the ruling, insisting the case should proceed to a jury trial on potential murder charges.

Official Findings and Family Dispute

After a full forensic review, the São Paulo Technical-Scientific Police and Civil Police determined the 31-year-old influencer's death on November 2 was caused by the accidental use of cocaine. The ruling was reported by the local outlet g1.

Despite this official conclusion, the Public Prosecutor's Office and Jankavski's family are not satisfied. They are formally pushing for the case to be heard before a Jury Court, as they believe she may have been murdered.

Circumstances of the Fatal Night

Jankavski was found dead inside the home of 51-year-old public defender Renato Campos Pinto de Vitto. According to a police report obtained by CNN Brasil, De Vitto told investigators he had hired Jankavski for 'sexual services' that night and admitted they both used illicit substances together.

He claimed that after Jankavski fell asleep, he noticed she was not moving. De Vitto stated he called emergency services and performed CPR for nine minutes before medics arrived and pronounced her dead.

Injuries and Online Persona

The São Paulo State Military Police reported that Jankavski was found wearing only underwear, with an injury to her left eye and marks on her back. A friend reportedly attributed the facial injury to a previous slip and fall.

Known for her extensive cosmetic work, Jankavski had built a massive following of more than 400,000 people across Instagram and TikTok. She documented her 27 procedures, including a facelift she publicly shared in June, and frequently discussed beauty standards and her dramatic transformations.

While the police investigation has reached its conclusion, the legal battle over the true circumstances of Barbara Jankavski's death appears far from over, with her family determined to seek further judicial scrutiny.
