Police officers remained at the scene on Thursday morning, continuing to gather doorbell camera footage, CCTV, and witness statements.

Community and Official Reactions

Detective Inspector Francis Nock from the Major Crime Team urged the public to come forward with information: “Our investigation is continuing and I would urge anyone who might have seen something or has dashcam or doorbell footage to get in touch. Officers will be in the area today to offer reassurance to the local community.”

Birmingham city councillor Majid Mahmood, who represents the neighbouring ward, said he is related to the victim and described the attack as “incredibly personal.” He stated: “Like so many across the community, I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident that has taken place in Alum Rock.”

Mahmood added that the family’s “one heartfelt request” was that people do not share photos or videos from the scene, but instead send them directly to police to aid the investigation. “At times like this, our community is strongest when we come together with compassion, dignity and respect,” he said.
