Neighbours of a man arrested on suspicion of the murder of former MP Ann Widdecombe have described him as a loner who 'went a bit loopy after his dad died'. The suspect was arrested on Saturday in South Yorkshire, nearly 300 miles from Widdecombe's home on Dartmoor, where she was found dead on Thursday.
Neighbour's account
Courtney Foster, 25, who lives on the same road in the Kimberworth Park suburb of Rotherham, told the Telegraph that the young man rarely left his property. 'He rarely comes out of the house, his dad used to do everything for him and I don't know what he did for a living,' she said. 'I think once his dad died he went a bit loopy.'
Police investigation
Police have not yet named the suspect, who remains in custody. Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Widdecombe's death. The former Conservative MP and reality TV star was found dead at her home on Thursday, prompting a murder inquiry. Detectives have received 120 reports from the public as part of their investigation.

Ann Widdecombe served as the MP for Maidstone and then Maidstone and The Weald from 1987 to 2010. She later became a television personality, appearing on shows such as 'Strictly Come Dancing' and 'Celebrity Big Brother'. She was a prominent figure in British politics and entertainment.
